Principally Speaking - Judy Bradley
As you know, SOL testing will begin shortly and, as always, we expect that our children will do their best and that they are prepared to do well. Each year we have tended to do better and have met all state standards. We see no reason for this trend not to continue, especially if our students stay motivated and give their best effort. The testing period begins on May 24th, and concludes on June 4th. I will also be sending a letter home with the complete schedule as our SOL testing window gets a little closer. You can help us to maximize student performance by ensuring that your child attends school everyday and is here by 8:05 during this time frame. All testing will begin at 8:30 in the morning. Of course, it is always helpful when our children come to school well rested. It is important that you also encourage your children to do their best, to take their time because the SOL tests are not timed, and to check their answers. We will review with our third, fourth and fifth graders how best to approach these tests and how to think through their answers. As always, it is helpful for our children to hear the same thing from you. Have a great summer everyone! Encourage your children to read and practice their math facts throughout the summer. Thank you so much for all of your support this year. I look forward to working with you again in the 2010-2011 school year! Thank you for your continued support!!! As always it is a pleasure to serve you and your children. Thank you so much for your continued support and compassion. Again, there are many schools but there is only one Battlefield Park Elementary. Do not hesitate to contact me if you need anything (723-3600 or email at
