President's Message - Dawn Parent

(March, 2013) The SPRING CARNIVAL is quickly approaching!! Save the date for May 4th, 2013 from 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. We will need parent volunteers for this event. More information will be coming via Tuesday folders in the next couple of months. We can’t put on such a huge event without your support. We are also starting to request Sponsors (tax–deductible donations) for this event. There are several Sponsorship packages - information is available at our PTA website (http://www.battlefieldpark.com) or you can send an email to bpescarnival@gmail.com and one of our PTA Board members will contact you. This year we are also going to offer “Vendor Alley.” Any vendors who are interested, please email bpescarnival@gmail.com and we will provide you with details. Please feel free to pass this along to other friends and families that would like to reserve a spot.

Looks like the Valentine Grams were a HIT!! Thank you to everyone who participated and to the volunteers who helped make this a success!

Thank you to Cyndi Bonneville for heading up our Yankee Candle Spring Fundraiser. This Fundraiser helps fund many of our PTA activities for the remainder of the year! Thank you to everyone who participated!!

REFLECTIONS results are in! Congrats to 5th grader Christina Beatty (1st Place in Dance Choreography) and 2nd grader Beth Patterson (2nd Place in Photography)! What a great program and a big thanks to Melanie Magill for all her hard work as Reflections Chair.

Yes, it is already time for us to round up volunteers for our next school year. The Nominating Committee for the 2013-2014 PTA consists of Shelly Hartley, Jeanine Schenack and Lauri Talley. If anyone is interested in joining the PTA at any level, you are welcome to contact one of the Nominating Committee members. They have a list (with descriptions) of positions available. We look forward to getting all of our positions filled. I am always available if you have any specific questions. We cannot do all that we do for the BPES students and staff without our Volunteers and PTA Board members.

Please come out and join us for our Riverbound Spirit Day March 26, 2013 and our Cici’s Pizza Night on April 16, 2013 from 5:00 – 7:00 pm.

The BPES Watch D.O.G.S. Program!

The Watch D.O.G.S. (Dads Of Great Students)Watch D.O.G.S. (Dads Of Great Students) is back at BPES. What an awesome start to this program! Last year we had many supportive male role models volunteer their time to spend the day working with students and staff here at BPES. We had an innumerable amount of high-fives and fist-bumps. These gentlemen have read numerous books, played math games, tutored small groups, checked in library books, helped with art projects, helped motivate in PE, played at recess, helped out at lunch time, assisted in the main office, monitored Walk & Talk, as well as greeted in the morning and sent home our Battlefield Park students home with a smile. On behalf of the staff and students, I want thank everyone that has been a part of the program. Our calendar (located just outside the cafeteria) is open and ready for you to sign up for a day or two (or more if your schedule permits). If you are new to the program we will have an informational meeting this fall to explain the program better. Watch your email and your child’s backpack for more info soon.
